Richard Leslie Lewis

Richard paints in his studio South Gloucestershire and en plain air throughout the country.

"I’ve spent a life doing really interesting things in television and radio, script writing took up so much of my time that painting time was squeezed. From the pandemic on that all changed. I now have the opportunity to paint. I paint in oils, my paintings are mostly realistic but occasionally abstract, landscapes and portraits. I am delighted to have my work hung in private collections across the UK."

Since taking up painting seriously in 2019 Richard has appeared on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year and made the Jackson’s Art Prize long list.

His self portrait was chosen for exhibition at the TALP Open art competition at Patchings Art Centre. He had two further paintings highly commended.

He has been published in both The Artist and Leisure Painter magazine, along with two featured paintings.

He has sixty-five paintings on exhibition for the Severn Vale Art Trail 2025.

Please get in touch if you would like to talk about a commission, a portrait or a landscape that you would like him to make come alive.

Testimonials

"We have commissioned Richard to do three portraits of our beloved pet dogs who have passed over the last few    years. He gave us guidance and support to choose the best photograph to reflect their individual characters with empathy and compassion. He then painted exquisite and absolutely beautiful representations of Charlie, Tess & Soozie that really show them as they were and their characters really do show through “from the canvas” so to speak. And yes tears were shed when each portrait was revealed both of sadness and of happy memories of our pups. Many thanks. "
